My name is Rachel Siehs, L.M.H.C., N.C.C. I am a licensed mental health counselor in the state of New York. I am also a nationally certified counselor who is dedicated, compassionate and non-judgmental towards the clients I work with.
I have over 10 years experience providing individual, group, couples and family therapy to client's with a full range of mental health disorders.
My theoretical approach being eclectic with a foundation in Person-centered and Cognitive-behavioral therapies. My participation in research projects studying the effectiveness of psychotherapy has provided better insight on building effective counselor/client relationships. I was an Adjunct Instructor at New York University in their online graduate program for mental health counseling.

I help adolescents & adults who are struggling with depression, anxiety, crises of meaning, relationship issues, life transitions, and struggles with grief & loss. Within a warm and collaborative therapeutic relationship, I adopt an eclectic approach which includes elements of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Rational Emotive Behavioral Therapy (REBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Gestalt, Existential & Humanistic approaches using positive psychology and strengths-focus themes. I work with clients to foster self-acceptance, psychological flexibility, the management of strong emotions, and healthy relationships.

My specialties include decision making and goal setting skills, coping with anxiety, depression and other mood related disorders, anger management, identity development, social skills training, transition issues & adjusting to change, grief and loss issues, early childhood experiences and trauma. I am an LGBTQQIA ally.

I accept Blue Cross Blue Shield, Cigna, and some United Health Care health insurance as well as self pay clients.
